What started off as a 4 track EP quickly grew into a full length album. Leeu Island is a place where he finds himself adventuring through the sonic world. It is a place of warmth and innocence, stirring up the darker undertones whilst maintaining a sense of playfulness. Each character that visits the island is greeted with a cup of spicy Chai tea, a warm meal and sweet treats. Whilst they explore the island, each visitor uncovers and inspires parts of the island which is how the album has come into existence. Each song is a journey of a specific part of the island, a tale of the created landscape together. Mey, the gardener of sonic veg, introduced the term “Suid Tronica” to describe the sound that they have been pioneering, which has become a perfectly tailored genre for his music. The album is a first of it´s kind, a complete collaboration of Leeu and friends, offering insight into the world of South African electronic musicians.
